Homemade Diaper Wipe Recipe

Here is a great versatile recipe for homemade diaper wipe solution that can save you a TON!

Diaper Wipe Solution:

  1. 2c. warm water

  2. 2 Tb. oil (I recommend coconut oil; it’s naturally anti-microbial which also helps fight diaper rash and aids in fast healing of any rash sores)

  3. 2Tb. castile soap or baby soap

Mix the ingredients together gently (they fill foam up). the end.

you’re ready to go!

Here are some great uses and applications:

  1. store in a spray bottle and apply to baby’s bum with a few squirts during the diaper change, and use dry cloth wipes to finish the deed.

  2. store the solution in a small jar (with a lid! trusty me on this….) and dip cloth wipes into the solution to dampen during the changing.

  3. Add 4-5 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to the entire solution (no more or baby’s bum will be tingly and minty!) and pour the solution over your cloth wipes and store them in an airtight jar (I love this one!) The tea tree oil is a natural anti-microbial, which means that it will slow down the growth of mildew on your wipes.  However, it’s still best to do small batches, and I’ve found that around 4 days is the max amount of time I can store pre-moistened wipes.

  4. And finally, for homemade disposable wipes: Take a roll of 3-in-1 paper towels (I like Bounty for this) and use your sharpest knife to cut the roll in half, so you end up with 2 tubes of paper towels, both about 6-8 inches tall.  Place 1 half-roll in an airtight container and while the solution is still warm, slowly drizzle it over the paper towels, allowing the towels to absorb all of the liquid.  Once it is saturated, slowly remove the drenched cardboard core of the paper towels, and this is the start of your disposable wipes!

I have a little boy in cloth diapers right now, and I typically make this solution once every 3-4 weeks – so it’s a HUGE money saver and takes almost no time at all!
